Harvesting-

One of my favorite things to do is go out and pick what ever I need for dinner. I am definitely an "outdoors person", and if I don't go outside at least once a day, I feel so cooped up-for lack of a better word(who ever is like me knows what I mean). When it is my meal day to cook, my routine is to prep dinner around 3:00pm, then at 3:30 go out and get my garden goodies, and lastly cook at 4:00pm, to eat at 5:00. Because I love wild edibles, my family will vouch that many times I have a new special "ingredient" in my pot... along with many herbs from my garden.

Here is a few pictures of my new garden plot, I am still trying to figuar out a good way to keep weeds down, so please exscuse the underconstruction garden.

Piano Scarf-

Recently I found a really neat pattern off a knitting website which I would like to share with you. It is on ravelry, a free online website for knitters and crocheters with tons of neat patterns. Anyway, here is the story behind the piano scarf...

The Piano Scarf Story-

My son, Mikkel, wanted a scarf and he wanted it to be an exact copy of a real piano keyboard with 88 keys. Every key had to have the real size.

I knitted it with 3 mm needles, which resulted in almost perfect size. I knitted it double and sew it together. The scarf is knitted in intarsia. I used 2 balls of black and 3 balls of white at the same time, so I did not have to break the yarn.
My son, Mikkel, has been playing classical music on his piano since he was 6 years old, now he is 22.

So if you know anyone who is a really great pianist, this is a challenging, yet rewarding pattern to try.

Starting Anew

I went through a season of not blogging for a few months. With school studies and daily life, I believe my time was well spent getting everything organized that I needed to. My blogging time is not to clutter life with my family, friends, and most importantly, the One True Elohim. So, right off, I want you as my reader to understand that I will most likely not be writing very often, yet I have decided I would like to make this blog about the following topics to help organize my finds, mainly, and hopefully help pass on information to others that have the same interests as me.

Topics for the Revised Riding Down the Lane:

-Wild Edibles

-Natural Healing

-Cooking

-Knitting

There might be more topics I write about, but my main topics will be wild edibles/ herb finds. So come and join me on my adventures learning about herbs from a biblical view!

Body Butter~

I found this is a recipe I have been wanting to try to make for a long time, and finally made it today! Here is he recipe and picture!

Here is where I got this great recipe~

http://www.rawmazing.com/homemade-body-butter-recipe/

~~~~~
Body Butter
Makes 2 1/2 to 3 cups whipped butter.
1 cup Organic, raw shea butter
1/2 cup coconut oil
1/2 cup almond oil
1. Melt shea butter and coconut oil in the top of a double boiler. Remove from heat and let cool for 30 minutes.
2. Stir in almond oil and essential oils of your choosing.*
3, Place oil mixture in freezer or outside to chill.
4. Wait until oils start to partially solidify (see photo) then whip until a butter-like consistency is achieved.
4. Place in clean, glass jar and enjoy! A little goes a long way.
*Not all essential oils are skin friendly or child friendly. Please do your research before adding.
Tips:
1. You can use what ever oils you wish, just make sure you keep the ratio 75% solid to 25% liquid.
2. The chilling step is crucial. If you don’t chill it properly, it won’t whip or stay whipped. About 20 minutes in the freezer usually does the trick for this batch. Make sure you scrape down the sides before mixing.
3. Since this recipe does not contain any water, it will not mould. You should keep in a cool place but it does not have to be refrigerated.
4. I do not know the exact shelf life but I know it will keep at least a few months, plus.
5. The body butter melts as it goes on and gets a little oily but absorbs beautifully, quickly and leaves your skin very soft.   Ingredients~ >
Rain!
Hello!
My family is so excited because we just had a nice rain here! It has been a long time since the last rain and our plants and grass were all wilted, not to mention us! It is so nice not to feal hot for a change! How is the weather where you live?
Well, I thought you all might like to see some pictures, so here are a few :)
My Dad, little brother Jack, and I went to a farmers market to sell some of our produce. Here is our booth . The signs my sister Cassie and I painted, I they look pretty good! We sold green beans, squash, beets, and zucchini!
Some of our exotic squash that taste like butter nut squash. Sweet and soft.
From left to right... Green Zucchini, croocked neck squash in the basket, and yellow zucchini!
More zucchini and some of the greenbeans ( most of them were under the table beacuse they would not fit on the two big baskets I brought!
Here is a little bunny my sister caught when we were picking green beans. Isn't is so cute! And yes, we are in the house, but only for a bit! :)
And here is the first sweeter i have tryed to make! A little babies sweater. It really was not hard to make too!
And then here is our 2 green bean picking of the year, this is about how many we brought to sell. ( the 3 batch of green beans we sold, but the other two we canned!)
I hope you enjoyed these pictures!
Have a great evening!
